Closing The Gap
Eligible Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders living with chronic
disease have access to low cost or free PBS medicines. They can access these
through the Closing the Gap (CTG) scheme. Your Capital Chemist pharmacy is
part of this scheme.
Certain criteria apply. If you believe you may qualify for cheaper
medicines through the CTG scheme start with your doctor and/or your indigenous
health service. Most GPs can register patients for the scheme. Once a patient
is registered the prescriber writes a special code on
the prescription that makes PBS medicines cheaper.
Not all doctors can prescribe under the CTG scheme, and not all
medicines are subsidised.
