Our Community Programme

One of the most enjoyable and rewarding aspects of being a community pharmacist is the opportunity to interact with members of our local communities. Many of our clients become good and even close personal friends and it is through them that we become aware of and learn more about community needs beyond the mere provision of pharmaceutical and health services.

That’s why at Capital Chemist we have developed a community programme over the years to address those needs, to lend a helping hand to those organisations and individuals in real need of financial assistance. To be able to do this we eschew conventional advertising and instead divert a percentage of our profit to fund this community programme. This now amounts to over $300,000 per annum and we see this as very much a win-win situation for all concerned.

Since its inception over two decades ago we estimate the Capital Chemist Community Programme has donated somewhere between four and five million dollars and helped, at last count, 42 local and national organisations as well as needy individuals. We believe this level of community support by any pharmacy group anywhere makes us unique in Australia and as a Canberra based group is something Canberra can take great pride in.

This Capital Chemist Community Programme is evolving and expanding year by year as the needs of our community change. But it is only made possible, of course, with the support of you, our clients, and for that we are very grateful. Help us and we can help you, simple as that.

So thank you Canberra – we couldn’t do it without you!
