Capital Chemist provides support to Oz Harvest to trial the Canberra/Queanbeyan Schools Run Program, designed to use rescued food (from supermarkets) to prepare breakfasts in schools to prevent disadvantaged kids from starting the day hungry.
The school breakfast trial aims to deliver 15,600 meals, saving 5,200 kg of food, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 9,800 kg through avoiding food waster.
OzHarvest has received enquiries from Kingsford Smith School, Coombes Primary, Dickson College, Lanyon High, Karabah High School, Evatt Primary, Charnwood Primary, Hawker College and PCYC and they are currently on a waiting list until resources become available.
